Balance with in The Great Commission

The Great Commission of Jesus truly expresses a summary statement of his passion, his purpose and his lifestyle. In light of this, the Great Commission is not only merely concerned with going, evangelizing, and winning; it also focus on following, equipping, and worshipping. In considering the overall emphasis of the instruction, Jesus is calling His disciples to a balance, with their primary focus on discipleship, which includes both living it and calling others to join them in this lifestyle. Following Christ means living the way Jesus lived following the same priorities, principles, and developing the same patterns. The lack of balance concerning the Great Commission leads to a non-biblical tendency to define the role of the church primarily around saving the lost with the result that Christian growth is secondary.

A Great Commission Lifestyle

To make disciples requires one to be a disciple first. Moreover, to make disciples requires the creation of an environment in which, by the power of the Holy Spirit, people can come to trust Christ and follow him; thus, becoming part of his church. Making disciples has to do with being equipped and equipping others to follow, and walking in the joy, empowerment, and confidence in his abiding presence. Christ has called his church to a lifestyle of following, and making disciples who will do the same: at all times, in all places, including all peoples.

A life of witness is a life of worship. Worshipping God is the disciple’s reason for Being; it is their destiny. One cannot worship what they do not know nor understand. When one truly comes to know Christ and reflects upon the radiance of his worth, it is then they are overwhelmed with the desire to worship.

Our Intended Purpose

Within the context of our ministry project, we have constructed a program that would educate the church as well as shed light on the intended purpose and last wishes of Christ. The church has for too long constructed a god of their own liking; however, the true God is so much more than can be imagined. In having a sound curriculum based upon proper exegeses, empowered by the Holy Spirit, one comes to know the true Christ. It is only then that we are brought to our knees in worship.

Becoming a Servant Leader

The environment within the “Core” group is one conducive towards the establishing of trust as well as an open forum for questioning without worry of condemnation, which in turn leads to transparency. This is an excellent environment for educating a disciple. The plan was prepared to meet a disciples where they are and moving them towards leadership with the expectation that their education and experiences will bring them into a deeper fellowship; compelling them towards multiplication. Furthermore, we have tried to select a program that would expose the heart of Christ, which is a heart of servitude. This ministry seeks to produce servant leaders that will in turn serve others in order to produce the same.

An Expression of Christ

To make disciples is to invite another into the enjoyment of the Father, to follow the risen and glorified Christ, and to experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. It is to equip the church, preparing her for the great wedding feast when she will be once again joined forever with her Bridegroom. Through the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit, the disciple’s life is an expression of Christ which in turn glorifies God. In conclusion, it is our opinion that the ultimate end of the church is to enjoy the Father forever.
